More gratitude in your life

Gratitude is an important part of our lives. Being grateful helps us feel better and be happier. Bring more gratitude into your life with my tips and tricks!

What exactly is gratitude?

Scientific studies show that we are happier when we feel more gratitude. Gratitude describes the ability to recognize and appreciate positive encounters with other people, positive experiences in a wide variety of situations, and positive circumstances in our everyday lives. This means that we do not take everything positive for granted, but also appreciate the small, positive things.

  • For example, when was the last time you consciously enjoyed your hot cup of coffee or tea?
  • When was the last time you held your nose in the sun and enjoyed the warm rays on your face?
  • When was the last time you consciously noticed the first breath of the day?

We take a lot for granted in the hustle and bustle of everyday life – and consciously feeling gratitude can provide us with happy hormones and make us happier.

You need more gratitude in your life!

And exactly for this reason I would like to give you a few concrete methods from my coaching sessions for more gratitude in your life:

1. method: A Gratitude Journal

What are you grateful for in your life? Every evening before you go to sleep, write down 3 things you are grateful for today. Think in particular about the small and everyday things. Do not forget the short moments and inconspicuous encounters.

2. method: A Gratitude Jar

The gratitude jar is another way to remind yourself of what you are grateful for. I recommend that you make this a routine: take a moment for yourself every week – preferably always on the same day and at the same time – and think about what you are grateful for this week. For example, what happened to you that was nice? What was perhaps unexpected? Did someone unexpectedly make you happy? Or maybe it’s something mundane like the first warm days of spring? Write down each aspect you are grateful for on a small piece of paper and add the date. Write at least one note every week – at the end of the year you will have a jam jar full of grateful moments and beautiful memories and you can review the year for yourself.

3. method: A Gratitude Letter

The gratitude letter is a very intimate and personal way to show more gratitude in your life. Take a piece of paper – even a “particularly nice” paper and a pen. And now ask yourself the following question:

For which person in your life do you feel special gratitude? Why and for what are you grateful to this person? How has this person enriched and had a lasting impact on your life?

Now write down all these thoughts and address them directly to the corresponding person. Take your time for this letter and enjoy all the positive memories that come up in you. One or two memories may make you sad – that’s perfectly okay! The person has had a special impact on you and you are grateful to them.

PS: This method makes us especially happy when we have the opportunity to share the letter with the person afterwards – and even a bit more when we read it to the person personally.

My conclusion

In conclusion, you now have three possible methods with which you can live more gratitude in your life – so I only have one question left for you:

What are YOU grateful for right now? 🙂
